HEALTH & SAFETY

Pilates exercises are very safe but, as with all forms of physical exercise, it is prudent to consult your Doctor and/or another medical professional eg: physiotherapist, osteopath, chiropractor and confirm that he/she are happy for them to join a Pilates class before starting Pilates sessions.  You accept full responsibility to attend Pilates and do so at your own risk.

Pilates instructors are not medically trained so should you have a query of a medical nature you must consult with a medical professional and take their advice.

It is your responsibility to inform the teacher, prior to any session, should there be any changes in your medical/health status which may affect your ability to exercise. You will observe and abide to safety and technique instructions from the Pilates instructor at all times (in both physical and online classes).

These sessions are not a substitute for medical counselling or treatment.  If you have any doubts about the suitability of the exercises, please refer back to your medical practitioner.  The Pilates teacher cannot accept any liability for personal injury related to participation in a session if:

Your Dr has, on health grounds advised you against such exercise

You fail to observe instructions on safely or technique

Such injury is caused by the negligence of another participant in the studio

If you have been pregnant, you understand that it is recommended that you wait six weeks (or 12 weeks after a C-section) after the birth before resuming exercise and have been cleared for exercise by your health practitioner.

You understand and agree that some Pilates exercises involve hands-on correction and you hereby consent for your teacher to work in this way.

The client understands that recording sessions are strictly prohibited and agrees that he/she will not record or attempt to record any of these sessions provided by Rebecca Cockburn.

Exercise should be performed at a pace which feels comfortable to you.  Pain is the body’s warning system and should not be ignored.  Please inform your teacher immediately if you feel any discomfort during a session.  Please also inform your teacher if you felt any discomfort after a previous session.
